INTRODUCTION

Des Kelly Interiors

Is a Irish owned and run family business, based on affordable quality and expert advice in beds, floorings and home furnishings, has grown significantly in recent years and a large new central warehouse was established at North West Business Park in Dublin to house and distribute its extensive range of carpet, flooring, bed and furniture solutions to its stores and direct to customers nationwide.

CHallenge

Build a completely new E-Commerce website with better usability, storytelling, brand expression, and performance.

My role at Des Kelly Interiors changed numerous times over the years. As one of the first employees in IT & marketing department at the company, my role in the beginning was to create content for the website and design ads for various media channels. This later progressed to redesigning and maintaining website for Des Kelly Interiors.

Small Description

In 2015 I was promoted to work on the project that was a collaboration with the Flo Web agency who designed & developed the website in 2016.

Over the years online business was growing faster and Des Kelly Interiors website was redesigned a couple of times for a new set of products & services that would create a better customer experience. .

Small Description

In 2020 March 18th when Covid-19 changed everything, Des Kelly Interiors closed all the retail stores and focused only at online presence. This was the biggest challenge I ever experienced in my life.

The challenge was to repurpose, rebrand, and reposition (basically just reinvent) the company e-commerce store and move all the products & services online.

Small Description

2021 was the year when Des Kelly Interiors IT & Marketing department was growing and new members joined the team which was a great success after Covid-19 & the lockdown.

By the end of 2021 DKI website was redesign again and that was a collaboration with CDG. Idea was to create contemporary website that included a large and complex e-commerce facility – easily adaptable to product changes and additions while providing an ease of navigation and use.

THOUGHTS

Great experience

Developing a website, app, or similar project is no small task. Working with a team can help, but only if everyone makes an effort to collaborate effectively. A simple miscommunication could be detrimental to the project but improved communication leads to innovation and success.
